Interview
I was called in for an interview about a week after completing the online application process. I walked into the store and asked where I should go to wait for my interview. I was told to go upstairs to their break room to wait. I was about 10 minutes early to the interview so I expected to wait about 10 minutes. Well at about the 20 minute mark of waiting to interview, an employee came into the break room to eat their lunch. They finished their lunch, threw their trash away, and walked away. Not even 5 minutes later another employee entered the break room, proceeded to dig through the trash, and dug out the half empty Diet Coke bottle that the previous employee had thrown away, and drank it. At this point I had been waiting about 40 minutes and the interviewer entered the room and took me back to their office. At this point I was pretty certain I wanted no part in working there, but I decided to interview anyway. The interview was fairly easy, they asked about my availability, things I’m involved in, and the basic “What would you do?” questions. The next day I was offered the job by phone and I declined. Based on my impressions I would never want to work at a King Soopers, nor would I recommend anyone else to work there.
They didn’t really care about much other than my schedule and if I could be there on time. For a first job, it’s a fine option, but don’t expect to be seen or to have opportunities to shine. If you will work as a cog in the wheel, that’s all they need to know.
