I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at LINE (Tokyo)
Interview
Got a test with 2 assignments, for some strange reason they show the name of the assignments before you start them so one could theoretically get an understanding for what kind of problem it will be and research it beforehand which seems really strange.
Anyways after that you get a Skype interview, and this is really a dice roll from my own experience and what I have read. If you're unlucky you will get a pair of engineers who are totally uninterested in the interview and you get the feeling that this is the last thing in the world they want to do.
They didn't know what questions to ask and I could see them staring at one place all the time, probably a prompter or something showing what questions they should ask. At one point it seems like the monitor stopped working because they literally sat quiet for 2 minutes and felt really uncomfortable while nervously laughing.
The hardest part of the interview is that they might test you on very specific terms so you have to be well read. Also it can be hard to ask for clarification because the engineers doesn't speak English and the translator is not technical. At one point the translator didn't know how to translate their question. This worried me because it seemed like tons of info will get lost in the translation process because of this. For some reason they asked me questions about C even though the job was about Java too. Other than that they also asked a very easy leetcode style question.
Overall an unpleasant experience.
