Interview
First interview was with a recruiter via video. Started a bit awkward as in the initial email she said it would be a phone interview and then when I showed up off camera, she asked me to turn the camera on. Good thing I was prepared to be on camera anyway! She asked general questions about my background and experience. I moved on to the second interview which was with the vice pres of the team I'd be on. He gave some background on the role, company, his experience, etc. Throughout the interview I was able to show I had a majority of the skills and experience they were looking for. However, I could tell he wasn't interested a few minutes into the interview. Within a day or two after the second interview I received an automated rejection letter stating they chose an internal candidate. Felt like a waste of time knowing that. Companies: please consider internal candidates FIRST and only create a job posting for external candidates if necessary to save everyone time.
