I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at M&T Bank in May 2018
Interview
First round with hr, then second round with the vice president. The vice president (Asian) appears to be rude and sarcastic. I explained my work experience and described techniques I use (legit econometrics model that can be easily verified online). He didn't try to understand what I explained and said as if this is a qualitative approach. Besides, he always acted as if I told him a joke, did not trust in my background, asked about my background in a too personal unprofessional level. Unhappy to have him as a boss anyway
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at M&T Bank (Buffalo, NY)
Interview
The overall process was very smooth albeit relatively long due to scheduling issue in the very beginning. First was a brief phone screen with HR to talk about background and experience. I had done a ton of research on the company and the HR interviewer gave me an excellent description of the position as well as the bank and its culture. I was told at the end of this conversation that I was moved on to a technical interview with a manager (VP position).
After about a week I spoke with the manager primarily about my work experience and coursework in graduate school. I thought it went very well and a few days later I was told that they wanted to bring me in for a superday at the Buffalo office (HQ). They put me in a hotel just a block away the night before the interview and the next day was extremely long but very pleasant. Had 7 1:1 interviews back to back. Even though they had scheduled breaks, some of the interviews ran overtime (I didn't mind this at all).
All the managers and employees that I met with were friendly and polite. Nobody tried to be intentionally difficult or nasty. 6 days later I received a verbal offer and was given 48 hours to reply.
