Interview
It was a good expierience. Many standard questions about how would you react dealing with angry customers, and things of that nature. More questions that we not as common to me but are heavily touched on in the company were about how you would define "culture." This company really emphasizes their culture.
I applied online. I interviewed at MSC Industrial Direct (Southfield, MI) in Oct 2018
Interview
The HR person that initially scheduled the telephone interview did not even call. I had to contact them. Days later, I eventually received a call from a hiring manager for a face to face interview. After I scheduled the interview with them, I was contacted by two more hiring managers for CSR positions within other departments. The interview was average and I was asked to stay and shadow an employee. This was new to me and apparently the individual that I sat with, as they thought I was a new employee. Afterwards, I spoke with the hiring manager and they let me know when they would be contacting me. In between the wait time, there was so much miscommunication and misinformation regarding the entire process. Between that and three managers being unaware that they were contacting the same person for interviews within their company proved that and were red flags. I really did want to be apart of the company, but the experience made me thankful that I didn't receive an offer.
Note to HR recruiter and hiring managers: The company seems to be good place to work and the employees seem to like it there. However, there needs to be better communication internally. If shadowing is a part of your interview process, make your actual employees aware. Also, please check your general voicemail often as they should be timestamped and dated and communicate that information internally before relaying any other assumptions.
