      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Macquarie Group in Oct 2024

      Interview

Applied online and then emailed to do first interview with hiring manager and someone else in team. The interview went well and was told by HR the following day they really liked me and would like to progress. The next stage would be to do the psychometric tests where you have a week to complete and then final round after. I completed the test (which I haven't done since graduating from University!!) I didn't hear back from HR for a while. I had to chase and then told they like other candidates. 4 months later the role is still live. I'm convinced Macquarie are actually currently not hiring...just look at the string of interview reviews for the London location. A tip to the company, remove the psychometric tests. I promise you, you're doing yourself a disservice and missing out on good candidates because of those tests.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Macquarie Group (London, England) in Oct 2024

      Interview

The first stage of the interview was a zoom call with a Senior Manager and a member of the team in Sydney who were both really easy to speak with. Following this stage, I was requested to complete a psychometric assessment which comprises of a personality questionnaire and numerical, verbal and logic tests. I've always been very competent with such tests but I found these tests much harder than similar tests I have completed in the past, mostly because of the time limit for each question. Despite this, I was subsequently requested to attend a stage 2 interview which was another zoom call with a senior manager in London and the division director. I've been through many interviews in my career and found the competency questions in this interview to be very specific and some of the toughest questions I've been asked to date. I received the interview feedback the very next day but have been really frustrated with the feedback. The feedback mentioned there were other candidates with direct records and data experienced aligned to the role. This was confusing as the questions I was asked during the interview were not specifically targeted to my records and data experience. I certainly could have spoken about my records and data experience in detail if I had been asked questions pertaining to this experience, so I felt this feedback was extremely unfair. Also, during the interview the interviewers mentioned the 2nd stage is not technical and rather assesses fit for the organisation, so on this basis the feedback I received is also completely inconsistent with the purpose of the interview. The interviewers were also unable to answer what a typical day in the role would like like and didn't seem to know what the role was about, yet are the ones making decisions on who to progress. On a more positive note, the overall experience with the recruitment team was really good. They are excellent in keeping candidates informed throughout the process.
