Round 1: Straightforward behavioral interview with a recruiter. Questions focused on background, motivation, and general fit for the role. Round 2: Online psychometric and cognitive assessment. Standard format, no major issues. Round 3: Rotational-style interviews with multiple team members. Unfortunately, this is where I encountered a negative experience—one interviewer appeared to dismiss my background from the start, took a confrontational tone, and ended the interview early, instructing the final team member not to speak with me. Round 3 Context: I appreciated the opportunity to interview with Macquarie Group and learn more about the role and team. However, I found the final-round interview to be more adversarial than collaborative. It felt like the interviewer had already decided I wasn’t a fit, and much of the conversation focused on questioning the legitimacy of my experience rather than having a meaningful discussion. Despite being transparent about my background upfront—and still moving forward in the process—the interview left me feeling dismissed, especially when it ended early and a team member was instructed not to speak with me. I understand interview styles vary, but I believe candidates perform best in an environment that is respectful and fair. I hope this feedback helps Macquarie continue to refine their hiring process.
