I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Michaels (West Valley City, UT) in Oct 2014
Interview
With in two weeks of applying online I was called in for an interview with the store manager, and because the managers are always busy, I had to wait a little bit to begin the interview. It was an easy interview, partially because I applied at the start of the holiday season. They mostly just want people who will be cheerful to customers and can count money and are basically competent. I was also asked if I would prefer to work more on the sales floor or cashiering. I was hired on the spot and told to return a few days later for an orientation meeting with two other new hires, and this basically consisted of signing tax and other papers needed before the official start date even though I was paid for the hour of orientation.
Easy and quick, pretty laid back process. It's an initial phone call to screen/schedule an in person interview and then the in person interview lasted about 15 minutes. Pretty conversational and standard questions.
Fast. Very friendly. Questionnaire!!!! But process goes quick. Manager is friendly and interview went fine. Super friendly conversation. Seasonal is easier to enter. After season is over it is easy to stay as a permanent employee.
