TL;DR: It's a long, slow process. The IS department requires that you interview with a wide range of folks in a series of interviews both up the chain and cross-teams. An up-front expectation was set that there would need to be 100% approval from all involved to be eligible for an offer. Fortunately, beyond the technical screen early on the rest are more conversational with a get-to-know-you flow. Unfortunately, as the interviewee you do end up telling the same stories and responses quite a few times. At least you have to opportunity to get good and the answers! The toughest call was with an upper-level decision maker. He got hung up on questions that didn't seem relevant to his position in the company and tried asking technical questions that were way below his pay grade.
