1. Recruiter reached out to me on LI. I replied with my resume. A day later calls me randomly in the middle of the day. I happened to be in the car and able to take the call. It was a checkbox list of questions interview as she was not a technical person and couldn't even pronounce most terms. Salary range was below the bottom of my range, but I decided to entertain this as my kids were born there and I was intrigued to know what they do in software. Every following step coordination was again an unscheduled call, and only if I couldn't take it, email followed. 2 weeks to schedule the next. 2. HM zoom interview. 30 min. HM and (mostly shadowing) engineer. Experience questions. Too short and they said they'll follow up with another one to talk deeper about behavioral and change management. 3 weeks to schedule next step. 2. Got an invite for 90 min this time. I asked the recruiter if it would be about experience/behavioral again and she said may be some coding. Got on the interview and it was purely for coding and system design. I was out of context and underprepared. Coding very simple string manipulation problem. Took me longer than it should, which should be like 2 minutes. System design very basic low level design question. Most of my interviews that week were high-level system design, plus I wasn't expecting it but still it's on me as this was textbook 101 low level DB and microservices SD question. I got tangled with my own lack of confidence, which I may have pulled out of but they just cut it short at the hour. 3. Recruiter never followed up in any format with rejection result.
