      Interview

Had an initial phone interview with the hiring manager. He just asked me about my background and gave me an overview of what the company does. It was very short, and then I was emailed a link to take a couple of skills tests; one about general business acumen and some Excel questions, the other an essay question about why you are qualified for the position.

      Question 1

I didn't expect the amount of Excel questions I was asked in the skills test, they were mostly about command functions such as VLookup and the like.

      Interview

I think the interview process moved quite quickly and felt that I had an "open door" relationship with both the hiring manager and with HR. I was able to connect with one of the executives on Linked In & I found him to be very helpful. I must admit I was turned-off by the current Glassdoor reviews. I came from a pretty similar company and I can relate to their frustrations. However, I proceeded with the interview process. I was called in for a 2.5 hour interview. You meet with 4 or 5 different people throughout the process. Each individual is set to assess a certain set of skills (personality, analytical ability, etc). Among the group that you meet with, 1 of the people is typically C-suite - which is kind of cool. This company has grown a LOT over the past year. As a result, the office looks extremely cramped. Everyone is in 1 cluster of desks, and it looks like there was some hybrid desk arrangement created because they can no longer support their current employee levels. I hope they can find a new office soon!

      Question 1

Can you fit $1,000,000 worth of pennies in a 10'x10'x10' cube? How would you weigh a 747 without a scale, assuming the plane is in Grant Park? How many books are sold in the US annually? How would you calculate it? How many of those are eBooks? How do you calculate revenue of all book sales in the US? What is 4% of 5,000,000,000? Explain the competitive landscape of iPad vs. iPad Mini vs. Kindle.

      Research Analyst Interview

      Anonymous Interview Candidate

      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Networked Insights (Chicago, IL)

      Interview

I had two phone interviews - one from the HR department (more of a screening call) and one from a higher up. Those went well and I was asked to come in for an in-person interview. However, I received that email on a Friday, I responded immediately and didn't hear back. I had to email again, and then I got an answer. I had a schedule set with who I'd be meeting with. I ended up meeting with 2 of the "assigned" people, and two people that were unscheduled. I was supposed to meet with 5, but only met 4. The last person I met with was a new hire that had only been there a month. I felt that was unprofessional and strange. The questions asked had more to do with my personality than with anything else. After speaking with the first person, I felt I wouldn't get the job b/c he said I didn't have enough experience in the field I was looking in. He was also very discouraging. They seemed quite unorganized and left me in a conference room for 15min at a time.
