The first interview was a general phone screening by a recruiter from the corporate HQ in San Francisco. Mostly just questions regarding my experience, etc.
The second interview was with the woman that I would have been working with. It was a fantastic interview. She was friendly and professional. She was asking a lot of situational questions and history about my work experiences related to the job description and why they chose me. She ended the interview by saying that she would like to bring me in for an in-person interview.
The reason I gave this a negative review is because after her stating to me on the phone that she'd like to bring me in for an in-person, I didn't hear from New Relic for two weeks. I contacted the recruiter (she was the only contact I had) and asked for an update because I was anxious about finding out when my next interview would be. That's when the recruiter told me that they'd filled the position.
I understand that there may have been a more qualified candidate, but I just don't think it's right to tell a candidate that you will be bringing them in for an in-person interview and then not do it. It's honestly pretty rude. I'm thinking that there may be a lack of communication in the departments...
I recommend to anyone applying to make sure there is some accountability for them following through. Try and get the information of your interviewer during the interview to contact them directly.
