I was not actively looking for a role with another company at the time of the interview and was very busy with my existing team. I really appreciated that the hiring manager was willing to be flexible with my needs regarding the interview process. It both created an environment where the interview process was mutually beneficial in exchange of information, as well as opened up the opportunity for me to get to know enough information to gain enough interest to consider exploring further. When we discussed the role, I shared my vision for my future career. Not only did the hiring manager validate that the vision was a possibility, but after I accepted the offer and before I started with the company, he was already sending me information about conferences that I could attend to prepare me for heading down that path. It reaffirmed that the company is committed to my career path not only in theory, but in practice and with training to ensure I'll be successful on that path.
