I had an amazing experience even though it didn't end up with an offer.
The role was a very specific one. They required both knowledge in Java and also in managing Kafka platforms in production.
I only had experience with Java backend development and Kafka from the client side, but not managing Kafka infrastructure. However, the Engineering Manager, David, encouraged me to apply anyway, so I did. The process was amazing and fast. It consisted of a screening round with HR first, a round with the EM for a background check, then I had a round of Java live coding, a round of Kafka theory and a final behavioral interview. I did okay in the live coding one, although I had some difficulties with the platform they use called Coderpad. For the Kafka round, all based on theory, I answered all I could (I spent the whole weekend studying to prepare for it), and moreless I think I could give the impression that I had knowledge of the big picture, only lacking real world experience. For the behavioral round, it felt like I was talking to a friend. Very good people overall.
Everyone during the process was so nice and friendly, and even though it didn't end up with an offer, I received a very detailed feedback after the process from Javier (the recruiter), which is always appreciated. Javier accompained me during the whole process in a very professional way.
