I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Norfolk Southern (Norfolk, VA) in Feb 2012
Interview
Phone interview and IQ test followed by an interview in Norfolk. Company paid for airfare and hotel. Interview consisted of a ra ra session about the company followed by a one on one interview with a HR person. The H.R. person said I was the type of person they were looking for and I would be invited to a second interview the following week. I didn't hear back for 2 months, then i got the thanks but no thanks email. The H.R. person was very young and has obviously not learned that your word still means something to most people. Probably would not have accepted an offer but I felt like the process was very unprofessional.
I applied, got flown out to Atlanta for an interview with a panel. I got an offer 2 days later to start within the next month after completing my degree.

Interview
It was a nice experience and the team in Atlanta was very personable. I think they would be awesome to work with long-term. They treated me with lots of respect.

I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Norfolk Southern
Interview
Interview process was excellent. Three rounds with different groups from the company, very relaxed environment. People were great, questions were standard. They also brought a person from the field who was in the position they were interviewing us for, and we were able to talk to him and ask questions
