I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Norfolk Southern
Interview
Three rounds of interviews. The initial round 1:1 with VP of Comms, second round was in-person with the team, and third was 1:1 with Chief Communications Officer. The team was very friendly and accommodating of my schedule. It was easy to schedule times and my HR contact was always very responsive and thoroughly answered all of my questions.

- Scenario-type questions on how I would react to a crisis and how I would go about developing an external media strategy
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Norfolk Southern
Interview
It started well and fairly routine - recruiter talks, hiring manager interview, team interview. I also provided work samples and did a communications writing assignment and fleshed out communications plan, all on my dime. After a few weeks of dangling and being told they were close to a decision, I was ghosted. Completely. No call-back, no response to outreach. To me, that's unprofessional and unforgiveable. It reflects poorly on the brand and company culture.

The interviewer did not asks about my current role, specific experience, or my resume. Instead, they asked about successful communications campaigns and education. It appeared they were looking for candidates coming from well known companies or sources.
