I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Northwestern Mutual (Jacksonville, FL) in Oct 2014
Interview
The whole process took about 2 weeks not including licensing. You start by taking a personality test. Then you go into the office and take a readiness exam (measures sales readiness). After that you meet with a recruiter and have a personality interview and talk about your resume. Once you complete the resume interview you move on to the group presentation. They give you topics and you have to present the topic to them and the other interviewees. Once you make it through the group then you are given market surveys that need to be completed within a week. These are very similar to the career so take them seriously. After that you talk with the first interviewer about your surveys and then move on to take the state exams.
Straightforward process, interviewed with them on campus. They provided the information I needed. I decided to not move ahead with the interview process as it did not align with my goals, but the interviewers were cordial and professional.
Felt like they were selling me something the whole time. Super easy to talk to, but something just felt off the whole time. Had multiple phases of them explaining why they're so perfect and great to work for (massive selection bias in some of their numbers)
