I applied through their website, got a callback from a recruiter a few days later, had an initial chat. On the call recruiter was very friendly, kept saying how well my experience matches what the role needs, outlined what would be the next steps and when he's gonna come back to me, and then disappears. Ten days later he sends an email saying "we went with other candidates whose experience match the need of the role better than yours", Ok, fair enough. 3 months later the role is still open. They say one thing during the interview, but then will decline your application without any valid reasons after ignoring.
Step 1: Recruiter Call -- very nice person and is a good candidate advocate
Step 2: Hiring Manager Interview -- also very nice person and would have liked to work with him.
Step 3: Technical Interview -- unfortunately the interviewer was on his phone nearly the entire conversation and didn't seem like he was prepared. His questions made me feel like he was suspicious of me. He seemed to be picking things in my CV to criticize. For example, he asked me about my employment history in a roundabout way, as I had moved jobs frequently during the PANDEMIC AND RECESSION due to financial and personal issues WHICH WAS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF PEOPLE AT THE TIME. But it's not like he asked me "why did you leave your job?" his question was phrased in a way that implied that I don't know how to work with long-term goals. So I asked "is there a concern here?" And his response was "only if you give us something to be concerned about". Who says things like that in an interview/professional setting?! I told the interview "I'm sorry I don't feel comfortable, I'd like to end the interview here". I am happy not to continue with this role as I cannot imagine working with a passive aggressive person like that.
