At first interview process seemed nice. HR contacted me after I applied. We talk if our expectations are aligned. Then an hour talk with Hiring Manager, asking about my experience. Then technical interview which is 3 parts: Algorithm section (Just explaining solution on a whitebord, no coding), Pair Programming (Not like LeetCode but solutions requires basic DS knowledge) and System Design. My Algorithms and System Design went really well. Pair programming went meh, because I take it 2 hours after the algorithm section, I was tired. So week later after my last tech round finished, I received an e-mail from HR, with a title "Following the Technical Interviews - What Next?" and content was asking for availability for 15 minutes feedback session. Earliest date was in 2 days. Mail was so neutral, I couldn't understand if I passed or not. Those 2 days went with extreme anxiety. I got rejected on the feedback call. You could've just showed me the result and I would still give the feedback. But I think it's absolutely disrespectful to waste my time. Not talking about the technical rounds. They were nice. But feedback session suppose to be optional but they manipulated and made me think it was not optional. HR gave me a lot of "we liked your motivation" etc but what's good of it if you're not gonna hire me? It's not a constructive feedback. Like there was one feedback they gave me, which was my pair programming weren't the best. I gave the same feedback few minutes ago. Since they're waiting for IPO etc, their hiring bar is high etc, but I don't care their excuses. At the end, I wasn't selected. Just say this and let me go. HR also told me to re-apply whenever I feel "ready" (whatever that means?) but I don't think I'll ever re-apply. I talk calmly with HR but I was and to be honest still am angry. I do understand that I'm not eligible to hire, each job requires some level but I don't understand the part where they waste my time and give me false hopes in order for them to be seen with "We're sorry, we really liked you" excuses. Never before I would imagine myself prefer the automatic rejection mail over something, but well; it's way better than "What's next? Goodbye👋" conversation. I wish them good luck but I won't be part of them in the future
