It started with a screening interview with an HR representative to check for a basic match. Then, I had a Zoom interview with the hiring manager. Both interviews went great, and the HR rep said the hiring manager had great things to say about me. The HR rep asked me to please keep them updated on my other interviews because they are very interested in me and want to make sure they keep pace with the other companies.
So, I anticipated at least a third interview. The HR rep asked me my availability for another interview (a panel with several potential workmates), which I provided and she never replied. I had to follow up to ensure she received my reply. At this time, I also let her know that I was moving to the next step with several of my active interviews but that I was most comfortable with Outreach than the other companies.
Again, no reply for over 10 days. I am now moving to the final phase in the process for two similar roles, so I followed up again, letting her know my status and asking where I stood with Outreach. By the end of that day, I received a canned rejection letter saying the "role is now closed."
So they asked for my respect in giving them updates on my interviews but failed to reciprocate by letting me know that I was not in the running or that the role was just a "feeler" to gauge market interest in the company. I will NEVER apply here again, nor will I ever offer updates on my interview processes to another potential employer. This taught me a valuable lesson in the reality of the one-way street that is interviewing for high-level roles.
