The interview process took about five weeks. The role was pitched as a strategic, almost chief-of-staff type role. The recruiter was probably the best recruiter I've worked with in my career. Really knows the product. Knows exactly how the role will impact the company. Great at prepping you for the interviews. What line of questioning will each person ask? I really felt prepared for the interviews.
The process went like this:
Recruiter call
1:1 with a key stakeholder
Three-person final round
The first call, I thought, went pretty well, but I was asked a lot of questions about being a scrum master. I was a bit confused and asked the recruiter afterward if this was a scrum master role or a strategic role. He said a bit of both. Though there were no questions about strategy, etc.. in the first interview.
On the day of the final round, one of the interviewers had to cancel and would need to be rescheduled. So, I had two calls that I thought went reasonably well, though see below the question that I was asked. Again, the questions revolved around scrum, scrum master, and Jira/tooling.
They rescheduled the final person for three days later. She showed up 5 minutes later for a 45-minute interview and immediately said you had a hard stop in 25 minutes, so 45 minutes were reduced to 25. She spent 10 minutes telling me what her job was. So 15 minutes with two minutes to ask my own questions.
I got a call from the recruiter a few days later saying the team passed because I wasn't "strategic enough". This was odd because none of the questions had anything to do with strategy; Jira and Scrum are not a strategy!
Anyways, recruiter was great to work with however I don't think the team knows exactly what they are looking for.
