I applied online. I interviewed at Owl Labs in Dec 2020
Interview
This was one of the best interviews I've ever been in. An initial screening with a recruiter is followed by a formal interview with a leader of the relevant team. The recruiter referenced the wrong salary range, which was corrected at the next stage interview. Despite the error, the second stage interview was excellent. Specific and relevant questions were prepared, and expectations for the interview and interview process were laid out from the very beginning. The role, company, and culture were thoroughly and concisely described. I thought it was well balanced, structured yet conversational. One element I found particularly incisive was the interviewer's reminder at the beginning to simply tell my story, and omit explicitly noting takeaways. i.e. Let the interviewer draw their own conclusions. I plan to borrow this reminder for any interviews I ever conduct. The interview gave me confidence that the company was getting the right people on board, which at a startup is crucial.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Owl Labs
Interview
There were several stages to the process, beginning with an initial call with the recruiter. Prior to this call, I studied the Owl Labs website and practiced answering basic questions like "tell me about yourself" and "why Owl Labs." I enjoyed how conversational this video chat felt and felt prepared to answer all the questions asked. The next step was an interview with the hiring manager. This stage involved questions that tied back to relevant experience, like "tell me about a challenging situation you had to overcome." Following this interview, I had two more back to back video calls with the CRO and another manager. I really appreciated how communicative and honest everyone at Owl Labs was. I felt like they held my hand throughout the process and provided great feedback along the way. Brianna, my recruiter, was an incredible resource and answered any questions I had extremely thoroughly.
