I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Payless ShoeSource (Denver, CO) in Jul 2015
Interview
Showed up on time and sat in a chair in the front of the store for 20 minutes until the Manager decided her break was over and had the associate tell me to go to the back room. She proceeded to ask standard questions such as "how would you handle stress" and "tell me about a time you helped a customer." Everything was going fine until she said (I'm a military spouse, by the way) she doesn't like hiring military spouses or military brats because they never work out. (she said is JUST like that) I was really taken back by it and was insulted. After the interview she then told me she still has SIX more interviews before she has to choose 3 to go to the next round of interviews. Ridiculously long process for a part-time associate with a manager who discriminates....
I applied in-person. I interviewed at Payless ShoeSource (Layton, UT) in Feb 2019
Interview
The manager had no idea how to conduct an interview and was super awkward. When I asked what the pay was she refused to answer and straightup dodged the question.
I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Payless ShoeSource
Interview
Very straightforward, casual, and included typical questions. Met with the store manager and interviewed for about 45 minutes, received a call back and offer the next day, then started about a week afterwards.
