Performance Matters Associates Sales Representative interview questions

Walked into the room and the guy seemed like he wasn't prepared or even interested in the interview. There were a lot of awkward moments where he was literally waiting for me to say things when i didnt have anything to say or any question to go off of. I kept trying to make up some kind of question to move things along but it was extremely awkward! Then he would ask me what other questions I had for him but never actually get into any sort of a normal interview process where he asked me a series of questions about my qualification for the position, or why i even want to work for the company. I had read a lot of negative reviews about the company and asked a lot of questions about whether or not it was true that all of the production costs came out of my pocket including travel. He confirmed this was true awkwardly and didn't even try to justify the benefits of me having to pay gas, phone bill, hotel stays for mandatory 2-3night trips for work, meals while on trips, any type of production cost of paper, stamps, business cards, etc. Also, they don't help you with getting licensed or any of that. If you are worried about finances, they have a $500 advance they can give you, only you HAVE to pay it back, WITH INTEREST. Basically the interview was awkward until we got to the products. Their cancer insurance is 60% of all their sales, and it really does look like a great package. They focus on selling to very rural areas, so basically going to neighborhoods in the middle of nowhere and knock on doors. Then they make you get your next clients from referrals from the people you meet hoping they have friends and family members that will be interested (and it is a great package which will save lives) but they have to genuinely be excited about it. The cancer package is affordable, but there are a lot of other companies who sell the same thing that may actually be more focused on helping out the new hire in the beginning phase. What worried me is when the guy told me he made 140k in his first 6 months! Im pretty sure if that was the case he wouldnt be conducting interviews when he could have an assistant. It's SALES so remember they are also selling to you for their gain. If you can put up with being away from home monday-thursday, and have money you can invest in a start up (i would say about $2,000 for license and travel expenses, and a cushion until you actually make money) then this may be a fit. I have to listen to my gut though!
