I applied online for a BI analyst position and within a couple days, got an email from a recruiting manager asking to set up an interview. That interview went well, with standard questions (talk me through your resume, what are you looking for in your next job, etc...). I was then emailed the Wonderlic assessment to take. After I completed it and emailed it back, I got a callback the very next day to set up an interview with a couple of VPs in the company. That interview mostly went well, with one of them doing pretty much all of the talking. One of the questions they asked me was what I was looking for in my next job and why I had left my previous one. I was up front in saying that I felt my previous job didn't have much opportunity for growth and that I wanted to join an organization where that opportunity would be available. At the end of the interview, instead of saying anything about the full time BI Analyst position, I was offered a BI Analyst internship instead. That already didn't feel great, but I was a little desperate for a job at the time, so I said I would be interested and they told me I'd hear back from them soon with the details to "make [me] their intern." From what they were saying, it sounded as though they were looking for an intern to start as soon as possible, so I followed up with them the next day asking for more details. I got a response from another recruiter for them forwarding me their internship description and asking me for my salary expectations. I responded promptly but never heard back. I followed up a week later (10 days ago) and still haven't heard back. Overall, average interviews leading to a verbal offer for a lesser position followed by ghosting.
