Two part interview:
- One round of virtual interviews with your potential manager, a director, and the CEO.
- A full-day (~7hr) round of on-site interviews with various members of the technical staff, including the aforementioned employees. No leetcode or whiteboard questions; the questions were a mix of behavioral and prior experiences. Everyone asked about my previous projects and asked questions that led to technical discussions.
Notes:
- The interviewers varied a lot. Some came prepared with questions and asked them methodically, while some had no questions and we talked freely.
- The company genuinely seems like a great place to work with smart and kind co-workers and a fantastic array of interesting projects. You will get high levels of autonomy (and beware: occasional tight deadlines) and the opportunity to work with a handful of modern ML technologies.
- Unfortunately, their pay is far below market rate. I ended up accepting an offer at a competitor for a similar role that offered me an almost 75% increase in compensation (~110k > 190k).
