Applied online, recruiter reaches out to schedule a call. She gets on the call 25 minutes late and says she has only 5 minutes to chat before her next call. "I was in a meeting with leadership and I didn't want to interrupt them...." She asks if we can reschedule later in the day, so we do. Second call, a couple of days later, is with the hiring manager, all fine, even though he's late too. They invite me for a four-hour marathon of meetings on-site where I meet & chat with most of the team. Everyone says it is high-priority and the role needs to be filled FAST. Hiring Manager: "Every day we don't have someone is a day I have to work 16 hours... and thats not sustainable." Tells me there are two other candidates, and that they would be meeting with them later that afternoon and the next day, respectively. Said I could expect next steps within a few days. "We want to wrap this up before the weekend." Recruiter calls more than a week later asking if I was still interested. Says she'll have more information for me by the end of that week (10 days after they wanted to "wrap it up"). Then she goes AWOL. I send 3 emails over the course of the following 10 days trying to reach her, no response. Send emails to the hiring manager, too. Two weeks later later the hiring manager responds with "As I am sure you know, we have decided to go with a different candidate..." Uh... no, actually I didn't know... thanks for telling me.
