One word encapsulates the entire experience: thorough.
It was perhaps the longest-winded interview processes I've ever gone through. A phone screening, followed by an initial hiring manager interview, then five, 30-minute interviews with employees in teams I could expect to regularly work with. While I didn't make it to the final round, which was a short, culture interview, I dedicated upwards of 6 hours of my time from interviewing, research, and logistics emails back and forth.
I appreciate that the interview processes was thorough; it shows that they value a good fit in both experience and culture. However, my experience of interviewing with Planet leans negative because of the lack of follow up and feedback. After my seven interviews and several hours of my time, I had to be the one to follow up with the recruiter, to which I was sent an email to the tune of, "you aren't the right candidate, but let's see if I can get you better feedback as to why you weren't chosen!" Weeks later, I still haven't heard back, and frankly, I've lost interest in receiving this feedback. It's unfortunate as I developed some very real and professional connections with everyone I spoke with, and would've really appreciated some closure that I didn't necessarily have to go looking for.
