I applied online. I interviewed at Planet (Bellevue, WA) in Jun 2017

I chatted with a recruiter to establish that role might be a good fit, then met for a coffee with the hiring manager, primarily focused on learning about the team and company culture.
We decided to move forward with a take home coding assignment and a loop of on-site interviews. It was my first take home interview so I had a bunch of fun with it, probably at the risk of over-engineering my solution.
The day of the onsite loop there were more interviews than I'm used to, most of them with two people. The interviews felt conversational rather than adversarial. They consisted of some pair programming to extend my take home assignment, a systems design scenario (more like consulting on a proposed design), some simulated on-call troubleshooting, and some war stories about a particular technology I'd worked with. All in all a very pleasant experience.
