I was contacted by a contract recruiter in April 2021. After a brief phone screen, they handed me off to a recruiting coordinator to set up interviews. I had a tech screening interview with a PM, and then a round of 1:1 interviews with various leaders, including a co-founder and the head of product. I felt the interviews were typical values-focused interviews, and they didn't have any "gotcha" questions. All the interviewers I spoke to were personable and I felt like we connected and had a two-way conversation.
However, by July, the process got a little unusual. After all these interviews, I was contacted by the recruiter saying they wanted to move forward but wanted the incoming hiring manager t interview me so they'd have a chance to get to know and vet the people coming into their team. I decided to do the interview, which ended up being in August due to some scheduling hiccups. We had a great conversation, and I was getting excited about the prospect of joining Porch.
A couple weeks later, I was contacted by an "executive recruiter" who would be taking over my application. They informed me that there was a lot of planning and strategy work still happening for 2022, and I could expect to hear back in 6-8 weeks. I replied to say I was still interested.
In October 2021, I got an email survey about my interview experience with Porch. When I followed up with the recruiter, the email bounced back. Looking their name up on LinkedIn, I learned they now work for another company, and my guess is that the survey probably got triggered by their account being closed out.
Overall, I feel like my application was mishandled, but the interview process is average to good - when it goes as planned. I'm really bummed that I was led to believe the opportunity was still there for me, only to be ghosted by the recruiter.
