I applied online. I interviewed at Portland State University
Interview
Sent the questions 10 minutes prior. Interviewed by 2 committee members, the supervisor of the department and another compensation analyst. All of the questions were centered on compensation practices and your applicable experience, which of course makes sense. However, I was very clear on my cover letter and resume that I had not held a role in compensation but was eager to transition into the specialty. I was a bit confused as to why the questions weren't a bit more tailored to the candidate. It was difficult for me to answer the questions as they were all technical and it just left me feeling confused as to why I was invited to interview in the first place. I wasn't able to speak about myself or my background at all - which would have benefited me to share about my other experiences and skills. Or had I received the questions beforehand with more time to prepare (have received for other university positions I interviewed for) I could have crafted answers that while may be untraditional, could have been more thoughtfully articulated,
