Through a reference from my friend, I was told about an opening to a position as a Financial Services Rep and it had immediately sparked my interest as a student studying Financial Mathematics. I proceeded to apply by sending my resume and shortly afterwards received a phone call from the interviewer. He had mentioned that he had not seen my resume yet but immediately offered an interview. Doing my due diligence, I researched about the company background and found a lot of unexpected information. The company seemed like it was great and all until I found out how their business model worked. Employees are recruited for the sole purpose of generating revenue from their friends and families. During the interview, the interviewer glanced at my resume, asked one or two general questions such as what school do you attend, and plans for the summer. He then proceeded to begin the "interview" which was nothing more than a sales pitch about the company and the perks of joining. He pulled out his iPad mini, a company incentive, and started going on websites such as findthebest, yahoo finance, frsco, and others to compare Primerica, and other leading insurance companies such as Manulife. Do not be deceived by their ratings, they come from relatives, friends, and family. Overall, I've heard a lot of things such as "Primerica is a scam" etc. but I can't entirely agree because yes, they are helping people, but their business model could use some work. I wouldn't risk ruining a relationship with a friend/family member just to make a small commission fee.
