Reflektive interview questions

Pleasant phone interview with recruiter followed by written homework assignment, second phone interview with a CSM followed by invitation for in-person interviews with the team. A few days after scheduling the in-person interview, they canceled the interview because they hired the position. I find it tacky to schedule an interview with a candidate and promptly cancel it, and it definitely left a bad impression of the company.

Applied online and got an email about a month later for a phone screening. Had a 45 minute screening with mainly behavioral questions about my background and handling numerous client relationships at once. Was moved onto the next round with the hiring manager and given a take-home email assignment - super easy summary of a phone call. Scheduled a call with the hiring manager for the following week, and after submitting my response to the take-home prompt, I was told by the recruiter that "they hired someone over the weekend for the role". I accepted that, until I saw later that day that the role was reposted on Linkedin and Glassdoor. Dishonest recruiter, especially for a company that prides itself on transparent feedback. Next time, be honest and tell me that I'm not a fit for the role if that's the case.
