I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at RemoFirst in Dec 2024
Interview
So the entire process is:
1. You have a recruiter call
2. Portfolio review
3. Week long home assignment that is unpaid which is bad practice and a red flag
4. Meet with a product owner
5. Meet with the CEO
Overall the interview process was fine. There were some parts of the interview that were bad practice or just bizarre. They make you do a home assignment where they give you 7 days. It is industry standard for companies to pay interviewees for their time because it is essentially free work you are doing as well as the potential of creating free ideas for them. They didn't pay me anything and I was working on other projects while doing this assignment. It was kind of a lot
Other than that the interviewers and process all seemed great until I got to the CEO. The interview was scheduled for 30 mins but he interviewed me for only 10 mins. A couple of mins were taken by him answering the door. My chat with the CEO was very dry and he did not seemed interested in the interview at all. He asked redundant questions and when I asked him what more he wanted to know when I repeated my answers from him asking the same questions he said those answers were fine almost as if he wanted to get the whole thing over with. I tried asking questions to get to know his motivations behind the company as well as more environment, people, and process information and his answers were so short, dry, redundant, and cold. He essentially answered my questions with a variation of the same answers. Overall he showed no engagement or emotion which was also a red flag. An interview that was supposes to be 30 mins ended up being 15 mins and it would have been 10 but I extended it by 5 mins because I asked questions. Overall, the feedback in my interview always seem great only to get a cold rejection letter a week after the last round as if I had just recently applied online. There was no feedback for why they rejected me despite the fact that I got good feedback after every round of interviews. I left the entire experience feeling used after dedicating almost 3 weeks of my availability and time to preparing for this entire process. Take what you will from this, but if you are not passionate about wanting to work for this company, don't waste your time.
