I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Revolut (London, England) in Sep 2020
Interview
The interview process started in late September 2020 and finished in mid December 2020. Throughout this period I had an interview with an internal recruitment team member to assess my fit for the role, before then being interviewed by the person to whom I would have directly reported to if successful in the role.
Both interviews went well, and were engaging.
After this, I was asked to do the home task. This required a cleansing of a data set and identifying two root causes for issues Revolut have encountered with regards to KYC Onboarding. During my analysis my excel file was so complicated it caused my Mac to crash numerous times. I raised this with the onsite recruiter whom I had first spoken with and was advised this should not be happening. Revolut ask that you keep all your formulas and workings visible, however the data I had was 700,000+ rows, and required parsing, and re-patching. In and ordinary work environment I wouldn't expect to keep the workings in such a document as it becomes almost unworkable. However, I persisted and submitted my findings. It took almost a month to get feedback regarding this stage. I was told my findings were in line with what Revolut expected, and I was asked to interview with another senior member of the bank.
This interview was scheduled for mid-December. It was supposed to last half an hour, however the interviewer was 10 minutes late, and proceeded to ask me very vague, generic questions about my approach to the role for which I was interviewing. Overall, the interview lasted a little over 10 minutes. Unsurprisingly I got the feedback later that day that I was not being progressed.
To spend so long in a process which seems unnecessarily protracted, for the final interviewer to not really give the respect to the interviewee was quite a shock. I got the impression they did not want to interview me at all, and the interview was an inconvenience to their day. This is a shame, as I had largely a positive experience up to this point, and the feedback had been very positive.
