I was really impressed with the interview process as a whole, due to both how professional it was and how hard the interviews were. From my first contact, to the offer, apart from minor scheduling hiccups, I had very fast responses and was kept in the loop at all times. The whole process took about 2 months, during which I've undergone a phone screen, on-site interviews and follow up phone interviews.
Phone screen: It took around a week from first contact to phone screen, and the call was very positive, exploring general motivation and gaming background. Sincerely, if you are a gamer at heart, and know what you are looking for, professionally, this call should really help YOU evaluate how well you fit within the gaming industry context. I was given ample space to talk and all the probing questions were about topics I enjoyed talking about. The phone call set my expectations really high for the next steps.
On-site Interviews: The 5 on-site interviews were back-to-back throughout a whole day in Santa Monica, and two things impressed me: how awesome it felt to be in the office and how surprisingly hard the interviews were. All interviews were conducted by MBA's from top schools around the country, and focused on different professional topics, general knowledge, culture& fit, problem solving, and creativity. I disagree with some reviews about memorizing behavioral answers being enough and, in fact, whatever I've "memorized" was of little use on its own. That is not to say preparation isn't important! In fact, because Riot was recruiting so early in the MBA timeline, I really wish I'd had more time to prepare, and would encourage every applicant to do his/her homework thoroughly. The interviewers will deep dive into your experiences and invite you to contextualize your logical thinking and idea generation. After everything was said and done I went for some air for half an hour while the panel decided if and how to move forward on my specific process. Ah, the wait... there is nothing like reliving in your mind every single mistake you believe you have made... long half hour that was, followed by a feedback session that was very welcome.
Follow-up phone interviews: For reasons that are not important to this review I was presented a choice of 2 paths and took the one that led me to 5 additional phone interviews through the period of two weeks (there was a lot of flexibility on scheduling). Those interviews were also tough, but a lot more tailored to the final position and had a side of "getting to know" the team that I truly enjoyed.
There was some gap between the end of interviewing and the formal offer being made, but that was largely due to seasonality, and I was still kept in the loop, so just had to wait.
