      Program Coordinator, C.A.F.E. Practices Interview

      Oct 16, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Santa Fe, NM
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at SCS Global Services (Santa Fe, NM) in Oct 2023

      Interview

There was a short interview process at first where there descriptions of the Job Title were proposed. It was almost intentionally positioned to me as a Lax Easy Position so long as you had Communicative Acumen. There were bits of bias and pressure I heard from the interviewer. To see whether or not I'd fit the "work culture". I gave reassuring hints and when we disconnected she sounded irritable. It was Odd and Bizarre. I then got the "assessment". It was easy (instructions highlight the majority of the testing). I waited two days to deliver the assessment exercises. I even wrote tamely and kept in mind measured approaches to assure I wasn't pretentious, elitist or overbearing (I've seen that with employers recently being fickle of "qualified" candidates). I personally think there is an ideological preference where the alignment to the company comes first and foremost. I think "you're a good fit" has its subtle nuances and I think the person who Interviewed Me had a definite cookie cutter image of who would be the "Best Fit". Either way, I think this company does have issue with internal bias at least from what I caught on to. The email as well I thought was a little too telling on their bias, "I would like to note that competition for jobs at SCS is always strong and that we often have to make difficult choices between many high-caliber candidates. Now that we’ve had the chance to know more about you, we will be keeping your resume on file for future openings that better fit your profile." When I pressed upon how they made their decision and what their criteria for "High Caliber" was (A term that says so much yet so little). They would not expand on that. Instead they said it was the assessment that was failed. I found it, find it odd that companies don't start off the letter/email about why you didn't get the job being directly related to the assessment itself Never the less I asked about how the Assessment was gaged and if there was a criteria about it (Being kind and positioning towards stating "Progressive companies have a tendency to be transparent about why they didn't choose a candidate upon asked. I've had other companies do this"). She did not respond. Mind you this is a self-reported progressive company. I have my beliefs. When I tell you I completed that assessment aptly thoroughly and with the utmost attention to detail in a quick casual easy way and expanded on it with other details and was still neglected without further details I think there's a certain criteria of people they are looking for. Maybe you know Maybe you don't. For me I knew.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on our recruitment process. We sincerely appreciate your insights and value the opportunity to enhance our procedures. Our recruitment process starts with a Meet & Greet session facilitated by our Talent Acquisition Specialist. This initial phase aims to acquaint candidates with details about the position, discuss SCS as an organization, and go over the interview process. It appears that your observations pertain specifically to the Meet and Greet session and the assessment, rather than an interview. For the specific role in question, our team has designed an assessment to evaluate candidates' attention to detail, grammatical proficiency, and proficiency in Spanish. At SCS, we uphold a commitment to ensuring an equitable recruitment process avoiding any biases. With that, our multi-step procedure encompasses the assessment and Meet & Greet prior to candidates progressing to interviews with the hiring manager and team members. It is imperative to note that all assessments are rigorously evaluated using a standardized grading scale, with a clear pass or fail criteria to all candidates. We acknowledge and appreciate your review and bringing to our attention the confusion stemming from the email notifying you of your status in the recruitment process. Rest assured, we are actively reviewing our candidate responses and will use your feedback to pinpoint areas warranting improvement. Our goal is to provide a positive and respectful experience for all candidates, and your constructive feedback helps us work towards achieving that. Once again, we express our gratitude for your valuable input, and we remain dedicated to refining our processes to provide an optimal experience for all candidates.
