Unprofessional recruiter behavior has received a lot of attention recently, and you would think that an organization that is dedicated to human resources would be an exception, but it turns out it is not. I had a phone interview with a SHRM recruiter and it seemed to go very well, with her reaching to me by email afterwards to request some clips to send to the hiring manager and a promise that she would followup with me by the following Thursday. Exact words --> "Even if there isn't an update, I'll get back to you on Thursday." Well, Thursday came and went without a response. Of course, sometimes people get unexpectedly busy, so not necessarily a big deal. When I still hadn't received a response the following Monday, I reached out, noting that I was expecting a response the previous Thursday and wanted to make sure I hadn't missed anything. It's been a couple of weeks, and still nothing. Clearly SHRM isn't moving forward with my candidacy, which is their prerogative. But to not even take 30 seconds to send me a boilerplate email informing me of that is ridiculous, and, as noted above, unprofessional. Do better SHRM.
