I recently interviewed for a sales role at SMC. The process started in a slightly unusual way. I applied through their website, but then received a LinkedIn message from someone in HR asking me to send my CV directly someone else in HR.
The first stage was an interview with HR, followed by a set of psychometric tests. After completing those, I progressed to a second-stage interview with the hiring manager and HR. The conversation was fairly standard, with questions about my knowledge of SMC, technical ability, and long-term commitment to the role. One thing that stood out was a strong emphasis on staying with the company long term, as they mentioned it takes two years to see a return on the investment in training.
While everyone I met was polite and professional, some of the questions felt a bit off or overly focused on commitment. The process ultimately ended after we discussed salary expectations. The offer was significantly below what I was looking for, and we mutually agreed not to proceed.
Overall, the experience was polite but a bit disjointed.
