I applied through other source. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at SSE (Perth, Scotland) in Jun 2025
Interview
As an internal employee, the interview process might be slightly different to that of outsiders. Most of the time, your line manager is informed that you are applying for another role, which kind of makes things awkward if you decide to stay or if you are unsuccessful in the interview. If the role is advertised for just a few days, then I wouldn't bother applying for it because the job is reserved for someone, and the role is published for formality. Manager-level roles are very difficult to crack because most of the time, the candidate is predetermined. I'm not saying because of "sour grapes". I learned this after speaking to the team members of the job roles which I applied that the role was already predetermined before even advertising the role on the SSE career website. This happens in SSE Renewables and Distribution. I have not worked on the other businesses in SSE, so I cannot comment on Transmission and Enterprise.

Question 1
What are your achievements in your current role? How many years of line manager experience do you have? Any processes that you have introduced to make things better at work? Any time you had a difference of opinion with your boss and how did you resolve it? How did you convince someone outside your team to do some work for you?
