I applied to a job listing, and the recruiter accepted and scheduled an interview. During the interview, he had a very thick accent (Indian), which was challenging to understand, he had my resume, and we discussed the job position. Then he said, it is a contract; I was okay with it. Among the questions, he asked for my legal name, which surprised me because no one had never done that, typically this is done during the I-9 application. I was skeptical, and complied, and continued with the interview, then 5 minutes later he ask for my DOB, because he needed for the Background check, at that time, I refused to continue with giving him any further details and I told him, "You have my resume, if the company is interested, we can move forward, if not, than that is okay." He said he could not give my resume to the company before he did a background check and provided a link by e-mail. Fare warning,, This is a SCAM FOR SOMEONE TO TAKE YOUR IDENTITY. I ended the call and I told him I was no longer interested in the position and he still provided the e-mail link. The e-mail address looks Perfect, like an actual company, luckily, I have a software background, I was able to identify the phishing scam address and while doing research, you will see this e-mail address is now listed in the new security breach for identity theft.
