Went in for 1 interview and went extremely well. She then surprised me with a 2nd and 3rd interview on the spot which I was fine with, but the expectation was one interview. During the 2nd interview, she asked for my social media handles as she specifically wanted someone with a large following and influencer relationships. This was troubling as 1) this was not in the job description and 2) the person previously in the position had no such social media presence whatsoever. She also told me that I was young for the position (she was in her late 60’s) and that my experience (I’m a district manager btw) was not up to the “Saks Standard” and asked if I’m open to non-management positions. The third and final interview also stressed the importance for an influencer to take the position and asked me who my most important client is. This unrelated question was troublesome to hear as I’m a district manager for a luxury brand- not directly dealing with clients. All three women were kind, polite, however, the elitism that was displayed was a total turnoff. Ultimately, I did not get offered a position nor did I receive a callback or email hearing back from them. Im not sure why having a large social media presence would make someone a better leader and develop a team? The whole process was fine and very easy but as I said, the executive management team is very elitist and unfortunately for them, out of touch with reality.
