ScyllaDB interview questions

- This introduction interview was held with one of the directors of the global support team. I must say this was one of the most interesting and relaxed interviews I've ever had! It was specifically an introduction interview with one of the global directors of the support team. Most of the questions were related to my experience (current responsibilities) and technical background. There was also a set of technical questions in-between which were not mandatory to know. All these questions were spontaneously asked following my experience background. - The rest of the interview was more personal and we discussed different subjects related to everyday life. This guy has a very interesting story and he was open to sharing his experience with me. The main point of the interview was to put the main focus on a personality side rather than your technical skillset. - I immediately passed to the next stage which was a task to complete. It took longer than a week for him to send me the task in the upcoming days since he needed time to create the environment. The main focus of a task is troubleshooting the Scylla service of a customer and trying to find the root cause of the issue. Also, there was a key in the table which a customer wasn't able to remove. It took me several days to troubleshoot the task considering I wasn't familiar with Scylla technologies and environment beforehand. There was no final solution to the main issue even though I tried different methods. I shared all the thoughts and steps I performed during the workflow. He was supposed to review the task for a few days even though it took him more than a week. - They finally decided not to move forward with my application since decided to move forward with other candidates that were matching their needs. I feel quite sorry for this because I spared a couple of days (including the weekend) trying to solve this issue and didn't get more personalized feedback. Also, my feedback came from a third party and not the person that actually interviewed me. - I sent a follow-up email to the responsible person (that I had a technical interview) so we can discuss the solution together. A few moments later, a person from HR contacts me and sends an invitation for a call. I joined immediately as I assumed we were gonna discuss the rejection. During the call, he apologized for the misunderstanding about this automatic message that wasn't intended for me. Apart from that, I haven't heard anything else from the guy that didn't even turn his camera on. Lastly, he referred to another person to get more information about the technical task. I contacted the responsible person and they schedule a quick call to discuss the solution. There wasn't much information from his end since the test environment was already removed prior to the call. We only made a quick chit-chat about what should have been done to make the task successful. To be honest, this is way below what I experienced at the first interview and this changed my positive opinion from before. - My first impression about this company was great but in the end, it was a bit contradictory to what was being shown in the job description. That is, "No experience is required for this role! We will teach you everything you need". It is clear that this doesn't apply to all. My advice to everyone is to not lose your time unless you already have a lot of free time available.

Interview process included 4 stages - HR -> VP of appropriate department -> manager -> HR. Every stage was very comfortable experience, every person was extremely kind and informative. Technical questions were on point with their difficulty. Overall, I'm very happy with this interview process.
