Applied online, the process took 7 weeks. The early stages of the process were standard and structured: Skills Test → Live Coding → Technical Rounds → Culture & Behavioural. Throughout these rounds, I met with around seven people from the team and from other teams. Every single one of them was professional, friendly, and genuinely enjoyable to speak with. Several even mentioned how great it would be to work together, which made the experience feel positive up to that point.
After that came nearly two weeks of silence, and then things took a very strange turn.
A team member suddenly stepped in and essentially created his own interview process from scratch. He asked for another live coding session, despite the fact that I had already completed one earlier. He also introduced system design and technical questions that seemed to be based solely on his personal experience rather than any real, objective evaluation criteria. Some of the questions weren’t even legitimate problems; they felt like attempts to get me to praise his preferred approach. The entire interaction came across as ego-driven and completely disconnected from the structured process I had already completed.
Communication in this final round was also difficult. The interviewer repeatedly insisted on technically incorrect points, which made the discussion frustrating and unproductive. This raised serious concerns about alignment, communication style, and technical depth within the team.
What made this especially disappointing is that all the previous rounds had been positive, met with 7 people who were great, the conversations were meaningful, and I genuinely felt like it would be a good place to work. But this final round was a significant red flag and ultimately overshadowed the rest of the experience.
Overall, the last step felt chaotic, uncoordinated, and disrespectful of the time I had already invested. I’m sharing this so future candidates know what to expect.
