I was contacted by SNC recruiter and ask if I was interested in being considered for a Senior Process Engineering position (which I had not applied for to date). I explained that my experience was in RF/Microwave Satellite Communications System Integration and Test Engineer not in Process Engineering. They wanted me to come in for an interview despite my lack of Process Engineering experience. Before the interview date I was contacted again by another SNC recruiter about a Integration and Test Engineering position that I had applied for, and did match well with my background. I was told that the hiring manager for this position was the same manager as for the Process Engineering position that I was already scheduled to interview for onsite. They suggested I interview for both positions at the same time. When the interview took place all the folks in the room were Process Engineers and seemed to be agitated that all my answers to their questions had an integration and test slant to them. I never claimed to be a process engineer. I had assumed they had some reason for being interested in my experience although they never explained the reason why, or what the position requirements were. I was forced to answer interview questions 100 % blind to what they were looking for in the way of experience. There was never any mention of the Integration and Test position I had actually applied for. Near the end of the interview the senior manager in the interview complained that I was not answering his question and the senior process engineer told me "you RF guys are strange" along with a few other unprofessional commits along the way. The SNC folks approached me about the process engineering position and convinced me to interview with them just so they could conduct the most unprofessional interview I have had in over thirty years in the business. I'm not at all sure why SNC wanted to waste my time and the time of 5 of their employees for an hour to emphasize my lack of process engineering experience? The whole experience could be best described as uncomfortable, unproductive and unprofessional. I would suggest staying clear of the SNC folks in Louisville, Colorado unless you can't put food on the table. I would have never put in the time, effort and money to get an MSEE 30+ years ago, had I known how low the level of respect and professionalism was going to get in Engineering if this is the norm going forward.
