      Marketing Interview

      Bellevue, WA
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Smartsheet (Bellevue, WA) in Feb 2017

      Interview

Man, I know Glassdoor has some stellar reviews here, but they're pretty flaky when it comes to the interview process. I worked through an external recruiter (I found the posting on LinkedIn, which didn't mention the company name), had a phone screen with her, and then she passed me on to the internal recruiter. I had a good conversation with him and he brought me in for an interview within a few days. I had an on site interview which I thought went well but I didn't nail. I followed up immediately after - and a week later - and two weeks later - and with the initial external recruiter - and it's all been crickets. More examples of flaky recruiters out in the world. Super frustrating as a candidate and a job seeker. I'm fine if you don't want to hire me - just tell me. It's not that hard, it takes 12 seconds to write an email.

The recruiters I worked with was very slow to respond and did not let me know I didn't get the role until I reached out to them myself. Overall not a super positive experience.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Smartsheet

      Interview

The interview process I experienced was quite chaotic. Throughout, I underwent a total of five interviews, each with a different individual who asserted they would be the manager for the role I was applying for. Unfortunately, communication with the recruiter was inconsistent. Initially, I was informed that my application would not be moving forward, only to be contacted again a week later with a change of heart, requesting another interview. Subsequently, I learned that I was essentially a backup plan, considered only if the primary candidate declined the role. Despite investing time in multiple interviews, there was a notable absence of feedback on my performance or any indication of where I stood in the process. Even upon being declined, the extent of communication was limited to a generic message stating, "we are moving with another candidate." Given the reputation of a company like Smartsheet, I had anticipated a more organized and respectful approach to the hiring process.
