Interview
The interview process was fast and easy, I interviewed with a hiring manager and an employee. Both were pleased with the interview, and I proceeded on in the interview process.

Interview
Things began with a standard 30-minute phone screen followed by a 30-minute video interview with the hiring manager. The problems started when a "proofreading" test came into play--the material was an informal, first-person piece with no relevance to the position that was provided as a scanned image. The HR contact stated that it was to prevent candidates from using spell check, and candidates were expected to hand-correct the passage in red ink and scan and return their own image file, like it's 1997. The HR contact took on a defensive tone when I asked for clarification on the "errors" the "team" found while reviewing my submission and would not provide the specific errors themselves. Something tells me that I'm not the first to give negative feedback about the lack of objectivity in the test, as the change in tone was night and day with the HR contact, who went so far as to say "this is a valid test" when I didn't question the validity--anybody can make up a "proofreading test" and judge someone on their own invented scale--but I *did* question why I wasn't tested on material relevant to the position. The attitude certainly tells me that this is not somewhere I want to work, as apparently asking questions turns everyone against you. Thanks but no thanks, I'm looking for an adult job, not something out of "Mean Girls."
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Q: How do you handle stress?
Now that I think about it, this was a very loaded question. I mentioned my recreational interests, the gym, etc., and I'm wondering if this was a weak attempt at judging potential for burnout. The other questions were unremarkable and I wasn't asked any specifics about my experience, just general questions--as if the interviewer had no interest in diving deeper.
