I applied online and was contacted by a recruiter to schedule a phone interview the next week. I felt like this was the most unorganized company I've interviewed for so far; now I see why they're failing. The recruiter called me at our scheduled time, and the first thing she asked me is if I saw the email that she sent out to me ten minutes ago to let me know they already decided to extend an offer to someone else but will keep me posted if the candidate decides not to accept the offer.
She gave me the option if I would like to chat anyways. I agreed in case there was a better role that fits my skills. However, the entire conversation was extremely awkward since she didn't seem interested to hear about my background at all. She also didn't show any emotions or humor, so it was very difficult to chat with her. I followed up with her with a thank email since I appreciate her taking the time to chat with me even after the role was filled. Then I just received one of those (most likely) automated emails letting me know they decided not to proceed with my candidacy for the role or another role. They probably only hire people with the same personalities, so I'm glad I didn't waste more time in the process.
