My interview experience was brief and rather unprofessional. My HR phone screen lasted 13 minutes, as the recruiter I spoke to "doesn't like to spend a lot of time on these". We covered my background, what type of role I'm currently looking for, and how a direct flight to Boston to Salt Lake City had very few options. The recruiter was very blunt and it felt like she simply wanted to end the call as quickly as possible to rush to her next appointment. When discussing the role, she mentioned the team was growing and had 5 open positions. The steps were a panel interview process first, followed by the hiring manager video discussion which I thought was odd since normally those steps are reversed. Regardless, this title was one I previously had 5 years for the largest payments acquirer and a lot of my background fit so I was planning out the next steps. After not hearing back for a few days, I followed-up to inquire about a projected time frame for the next round. A few hours later, I received the automatic rejection e-mail. There was no response to my follow-up. A very unwelcoming and impersonal experience altogether. It's 2021, candidates deserve better.
