I applied in-person. I interviewed at Special Needs Network (Los Angeles, CA) in Aug 2011
Interview
Simple and Efficientt 2 interviews. My first interview was with human resources. My second interview was with the founder. Both interviews were informal and allowed me to really speak to my strengths and values that would be crossing over from other jobs.

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Special Needs Network (Los Angeles, CA) in Jan 2023
Interview
The most inappropriate interview I have ever had. My interview was with the founder and VP of the nonprofit and she did not ask me any relevant questions pertaining to the essential functions in the job description. She fished for personal information and only asked one question that was job related at the end of the conversation. For example, her first question was asking me to list all my full and part time positions and if I was paid or not. Following up with, “You haven’t held a full-time job in 2-3 years, why?” I found this question to be incredibly insensitive and tone deaf. Especially as we are now experiencing the residual effects of the aftermath of the pandemic in which she should be reminded that millions of people lost their jobs, homes, and loved ones. She then doubled down and asked, “how do you financially support yourself?” At that point it was evident that I was not taken seriously as candidate for a job and regardless of how I responded it was going to be met with toxic catty female energy. The VP's absent of pleasantries and professional courtesy demonstrated one thing to be true, her company culture was not a good fit for me. The entire time I felt I needed to defend myself professionally while she led with a tone of dismissiveness and preconceived assumptions. It would better serve if the VP of the organization read her own mission statement, “Champion diversity by building a community of equity champions who are as diverse as the community we serve.” And, stop punching down on women from other communities.
